Otsuki Yuji
"Aggregate" by Japanese artist Yuji Otsuki is a disarmingly simple and poetic photograph. Like a visual haiku, it tells about the Infinite, the evanescence of things and the cosmic dimension in every element, even the most insignificant. "Aggregate" is far from being just a plain photograph of the reflection of light on water because it also appeals to our unconscious by echoing popular pictures of galaxies, supernovae, or of the big bang and also very subtly reminding us of the famous painting "L'Origine du monde" (The Origin of the World") by Gustave Courbet with the same lines and composition.
